Stormwater Management

CREUS has been at the forefront of integrating stormwater features into the projects we work on and have found ways to integrate environmental sustainability in a financially sustainable manner using creative design approaches that look at the features of each project.

Quest University, Squamish, BC
Client: Sea to Sky University Foundation

Description: A 240-acre, mixed use development with a full service university, resident housing, market housing, sports field, wetlands, creek crossings and significant off-site works. This project has involved the design, approvals, construction and inspection of several kilometers of road, the grading and servicing of the core university buildings, grading for resident housing buildings and infrastructure upgrades. As the site involves large areas of land and existing wetlands are considered quite valuable, effective stormwater management was recognized as being critical. CREUS incorporated on-site and local off-site features using available materials to address the majority of the infiltration and detention requirements. In addition, the sports field was utilized to maximize detention such that requirements for future phases were addressed and exceeded.

CREUS Member Roles: CREUS members were the original, and continue to be, the Engineer of record for all the preliminary and detailed civil, sediment and erosion control and Stormwater Management elements of the project and managed the tender and construction of the works, providing inspection for all ongoing and completed civil works.
